Welcome to my blog. My name is Carl Blewitt and i'm an apprentice engineer working for a team of engineering consultants called DraughTec. The company is based in Blyth, Northumberland. Our main focus is to provide a freelance engineering service, however we also work closely with EnviroHomes Ltd, pushing the boundaries of design in the field of sustainability, including buildings and environmentally friendly houses (EcoHomes), carbon negative schools and various types of renewable technologies.

About me:

After leaving school in 2006 i began my apprenticeship at the same time as starting my A levels in Maths, ICT and Fine Art. Once the A levels were finished i officially began my apprenticeship through Tyne North Training. I am currently in my 2nd Year, and will be prgressing onto HNC in September. I hope to achieve a degree in project management once my apprenticeship is completed.

My primary role within the company involves the production of 2D CAD drawings through the use of AutoCad, and 3D Models using Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks. Other aspects of my role include site surveys, weight calculations and drawing conversions aswell as making the odd brew when the gaffers parched!
