Cockermouth School
A pioneering and land mark building built by EnviroHomes Ltd partner. The building has a capacity of 250 people and includes designs used extensively by EnviroHomes as standard. It is used not only by Cockermouth School but also community groups to stage plays and meetings.
Sustainability and quality are woven into the very fabric of the building. The building has won several regional and national awards, including the LABC Built in Quality Award.
The construction made the best use of locally sourced natural materials. This ensures a low embodied carbon foot print for the building.

High Lights
Extensive use of recycled materials—from building fabric and foundations to internal finishes.
24 solar PV panels incorporated into part of the roof.
9kW wind turbine sited to the rear of the building.
Highly insulated roof and walls to reduce heat loss from the building.
An internal space which is very flexible and adaptable to all users.
Naturally ventilated spaces to negate the need for air conditioning in the summer months.
'Green Living' roof employed in part.
Completely heated by under floor heating. The heat source being from Geo-Thermal ground Source Heat Pump.
